Our Quality Residential Roofing Options
One of the most popular roofing materials on the market. Asphalt shingle are extremely durable and designed to protect a home for decades with minimal maintenance. This type of roofing option is available in hundreds of colors and styles. Weather Tech Renovations offers asphalt shingles from leading manufacturers like CertainTeed, GAF and Owens Corning.
Clay and Concrete Tiles
Clay and concrete shingles are sometimes referred to as Spanish or terra cotta shingles. Clay tiles are made from clay and water. Concrete tiles are made from a mix of sand, water and cement. Both types of tiles’ durability results from both heat and pressure during the manufacturing process. This process leaves the tiles water resistant and strong. You can paint concrete tiles but can not paint clay tiles which are typically a terra cotta hue. Concrete tiles cost considerably less than clay.
Slate roof tiles are a natural roofing product made of hard, metamorphic rock. Natural slate comes in shades of red, green, brown, blue, purple, tan, and other colors are also available.
Slate roofs are aesthetically beautiful but are considerably more expensive than asphalt and composite shingles. A slate roof, if installed properly, is incredibly resilient investment. We refer to a slate roof as a hundred-year roof, it can last 100 years or longer.
Wood Shake Shingles
A wood shake shingle is a rustic looking roofing shingle. They are hand split, replicating the look of an ax or mallet cut. This type of natural material roofing shingle, typically made from cedar, is rough and the size and shape of each shingle vary slightly.
The natural beauty of a shake shingle roof adds tremendous curb appeal, they are extremely durable, 100% sustainable and environmentally friendly.
Synthetic (also called Composite) Shingles
A newer type of roofing material, synthetic roofing shingles can give you the look of slate or cedar shake without the expense. Most synthetic (also called composite) roof shingles are made of recycled materials, like rubbers and plastics. This shingle type comes in a wide variety of color and texture options to give your roof the look you want. A very durable material, this shingle type will hold up to impacts like hail and walking on the roof will not damage it. The lifetime of this type of roof is 40-50 years.
A residential metal roof typically has a higher initial cost; however, metal roofs will save you time and money in the long run. Metal roofing has a very long lifespan (60+ years) and is very low maintenance. Metal roofs reflect heat, so they are energy efficient compared to other traditional roofing materials.
Metal roofing comes in both concealed and exposed fastener panel options. With a broad selection of colors, you are bound to find the perfect match for your residential construction project.
Stone Coated Steel Roofing Systems
A metal roofing option that involves a layered materials manufacturing process. Galvanized steel panels are coated with primer followed by acrylic paint to protect the metal from UV and moisture and serve as an adhesive for the final layer of stone granules. The stone granules layer is then coated with an acrylic overglaze to provide a nice finish and to further protect the surface. Stone coated steel roofing systems are more costly but are extremely durable with up to a 50-year lifespan.
Weather Tech Renovations Recommends Impact Resistant Class 4 Roofing Shingles
Impact-resistant shingles are designed to be more resistant to damage caused by hail. There are different levels of impact resistance: from Class 1 to Class 4. Class 4 is the highest level of impact resistance, meaning new shingles can withstand the impact from a 2-inch steel ball dropped from 20 feet without splitting or tearing.
- Class 1 Impact Resistant Shingles: Withstand damage from 1.25 inch diameter steel balls dropped from 20 feet onto shingles.
- Class 2 Impact Resistant Shingles: Withstand damage from 1. 5 inch diameter steel balls dropped from 20 feet onto shingles.
- Class 3 Impact Resistant Shingles: Withstand damage from 1.75 inch diameter steel balls dropped from 20 feet onto shingles.
- Class 4 Impact Resistant Shingles: Withstand damage from 2 inch diameter steel balls dropped from 20 feet onto shingles.
